An incredibly proud moment for me was giving my maiden speech in Federal Parliament. I used the occasion to pay my respects and give thanks to my family, the voters of Lingiari and the many supporters and volunteers who worked on my campaign including the trade union movement.
I addressed my commitment to Lingiari as a member of parliament who will work hard to achieve tangible outcomes for my electorate.
In particular, I am excited to be a leader in campaigning for the Uluru State from the Heart that the Albanese Labor Government has committed to taking long-overdue action on which includes a referendum to provide Aboriginal and Torres-Strait Islander voice in Federal Parliament.
In my speech I also address important issues concerning Lingiari including the following:
- Tourism
- Renewables
- Beetaloo gas project
- Jobs and employment (CDEP)
- Mining
- Defence
- Stronger Futures
